In the Footsteps of the Megaliths

A route that unites the three faces of the Eastern Rhodopes – prehistory, rock cults, and a wild canyon. We begin at the cromlech (a stone circle made of megalithic blocks), where we’ll explore the rituals of the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages. The journey continues to the Kovan Kaya rock sanctuary – terraces and cliffs with dozens of rock niches and a panoramic view of the Arda Valley. The finale takes us to Sheitan Dere – a narrow gorge with dramatic cliffs, lush greenery, and refreshing coolness in summer. The route combines easy hikes and photo stops; sturdy shoes are required, and extra caution is advised on the rocks in wet weather.
