The wooden mosque in the village of Podkova
“The Mosque of the Seven Maidens,” also known as “The Wooden Mosque,” is located in the Eastern Rhodopes – in the village of Podkova, about 30 km from the town of Kardzhali on the road to the Makaza border checkpoint. It was built in 1428. The picturesque village that has sheltered it for centuries is part of the Kirkovo Municipality.
