Life here began 8000 years ago, according the archeological finds found here during the excavations conducted on the sacred hill by prof. Nikolay Ovcharov. Later in time when people discovered the bronze and the iron after that they have begun to cut into the sacred rocky hill their temple. According prof. Ovcharov Perperikon was the place where temple of Dionysus was finally discovered after decades of searches. Roman historians Suetonius Tranquil and Dion Cassius give us information that the temple of Dionysus has been visited by two important persons - Alexander the Great and roman general Gaius Octavius – father of Octavius Augustus. Alexander was predicted that he will conquer the ancient world, and roman general was predicted that he will have a son, who will become first roman emperor.
